People around the world are put in Mental Health facilities. Many are treated inhumanely by the staff. Many suicides occur due to lack of access to a room at a hospital. Even though the hospital staff have been found to abuse their patients, hospitals are still over-crowded. Globally, many people suffer from mental illness and do not reiceve proper care. Also, many are held against their will. A new report by the NHS deems that there are 90 recommendations for improvement. The Mental Health Act that more than 1.25 million people use NHS mental health services per year.
Paul Farmer, MIND’s chief executive stated, “Our investigation found that far from receiving the instant 24-7 response we expect for physical health emergencies, people experiencing mental health emergencies can be faced with long waits, poor quality of care and in some cases no access to help at all.” This mental health crisis should be addressed quickly to prevent more people from suffering and dying. Mental health hospitals should staff people who are specially trained and caring. Mental health conditions are continuing to rise in the world, and without a proper place to go for treatment, many people will not get the treatment he or she needs.
Paul Burstow, minister in England said, “a light on the good, the bad and the unacceptable.” Far too many people are not getting the care they need. The health status of the people reflects the health of the country. RIght now, mental health facilities are not doing the job correctly. The amount of experience for doctors and nurses at these facilities need more regulations. No one should be hired to work with the mentally ill unless they have worked with them before. Also, regulations should be held to see ho the nurse and patient relationship goes day by day. Strict rules and regulations need to be enforced.
Far too many people have been abused and mistreated, when they are supposed to be cared for. Many people with mental illness do not have family or friends to help them and it is the responsibility of the state to care for them properly. Human beings should not be treated inhumanely, not matter what their condition is.

i agree, i have read stories about the mistreatment of the mentally ill and that's because they dont really have a voice. I think to solve this problem there should be random inspections of the facilities periodically to insure that this doesnt happen again as well law enforcement cracking down
Yes, it is a sad reality. Many mentally ill patients do not have a voice-no one will believe what they say. More laws need to be in place, along with extensive background checks in hiring people for the job.
I agree. I believe it is sad that the very people who are supposed to be helping are actually harming them. They definitely do not have a voice because the workers believe they know what are best. It is easy to get frustrated and do something to harm the patient so they definitely should have random inspections so those workers can be caught in the act than them knowing about the check and acting accordingly.
I totally agree that something needs to be done about the help in these facilities. I agree with what Jasma said that there should be random inspections. That would help with seeing if the nurses and help are just putting on a show for the people who come in and observe. Patients already deal with a lot because of their illness and they deserve to get the correct help that they need.
This is really sad. No one seems to believe the mental ill because like you stated they have no voice. Governments need to make new laws to address this issue
This is a hard subject to cover. I think there needs to be more funding for Mental Health Facilities. This affects multiple of people and should be addressed globally. I also think people should be more open to receiving help. There needs to be more training in the health facilities that way the people are getting proper care. All in all, I agree that people should not be treated inhumanely and something should be done.
Yes-it is very sad that many people living with mental illness do not get proper care. Many are homeless, and committing suicide. There are many support groups for people with mental illness, however many do not have the tools available to get to those free support centers. Also, they are pushed out of hospitals due to overcrowding. It is shocking to me that mental illness could reach #2 on WHO's top diseases of 2020. More research, funding and social awareness needs to go into the quality of care for the mentally ill.

I don't understand why we stay away from mental illness just because we don't understand it. You would think that America would want to be the first ones to come up with ways to help these people. Instead, we are one of the leaders in mistreating them and acting like they're animals.
I totally agree. Even though people have a mental illness, they should still be treated the same. God created them the same way they created all of us and the sooner people realize that, the better the world would be.
I agree totally, there was a book written and movie made on this topic called, One flew over the cookoos nest. This book showed how nurses and staff mistreated patiants in mentally unstabled facilities. It is sad to say it is still happening but i believe it is getting better from what they used to do to these poor people. I believe inspections lke Jasma said are a good idea but they should be random and offten. Every person deserves equal rights no matter what.
