Blog 1- Massive Online Pedophile Ring Busted by Cops

The global current event on crime that I found was titled, Massive online pedophile ring busted by cops, and was found on msnbc.com. This article generally discusses the rising problem of pedophiles all around the world. It has been uncovered by police and a security official that an Internet pedophile ring included up to 70,000 members. Since this global crime was discovered, there have been 184 people arrested so far. Not only does this article inform us on how many people have been arrested, but it also discusses how many children have bee found in about 30 countries and are now somewhere safe. This pedophile website was operated from a server that was located in the Netherlands and had members from all over the world. There was a three-year investigation held on the website and it was finally shut down after the third year. Law enforcement authorities from 13 countries, including the United States, were involved in this case dealing with the massive pedophile ring. This global crime affected citizens in over 30 countries.
This article is very significant when it comes to global current events on crime. This crime affected and impacted a large number of countries. With the large number of police, security officials, and law enforcement agencies working on this case, children (victims) were found and are now protected while the pedophiles linked to this website were arrested. A crime such as this one is a serious matter and obviously takes place more often in today’s society all around the world. After reading this article it was easy to see that the Internet makes such a horrible crime “easier” for pedophiles to find their victims from all different countries. The Internet makes the world a “global village,” and in this case had negative effects. This Internet pedophile ring is considered the world’s largest one yet. This article includes quotes and examples from officers, and law enforcers from several different countries around the world, not just from one country. By having more than one country discussed, it allows the article to illustrate how global this crime really is and how it affected the whole world, not just one individual country.
