     White Collar Crime

      Two different people were charged in two separate white collar crimes. The Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry has charged two people with theft. These two people stole about 800,000 dollars. One person was Stacy H. Sheedy. She was an accountant and attorney in Indianapolis.  Stacy Sheedy has been charged with three accounts of theft and one account of forgery.  One of the thefts occurred from  a guardianship account where 172,000 dollars was taken. This account supported an old lady with Alzheimer’s disease who was living in a nursing home.  Stacy Sheedy wrote checks to her business and withdrew cash from that account.  This information led investigators to look at other accounts Stacy had where they found more money was stolen. One account was worth over 500,000 dollars now only contains around $100. The other person charged is Cheryl Dillon-Brit. She is charged with fourteen different accounts of theft. She stole over 200,000 dollars from a fraternity account she had. This article also states the seriousness of white collar crime and how it will not be taken lightly!

       I am glad that this article was published about white collar crimes. Much too often, these types of crimes are taking place. Often times they are overlooked. Some people do not seem to see white collar crimes as much of an issue than other types of crimes. White collar crimes are serious crimes too! In this article, the two people charged stole over 800,000 dollars between the two of them. Think about how much more is being stolen from people’s accounts by all the different people.
