Blog 3: US sanctions three over PKK drugs network

Three different people were named as key figures in an alleged drug network of the PKK.  Zeyneddin Geleri, Cerkez Akbulut, and Omer Boztepe are the three men named. The PKK European’s network produces and distributes both heroin and marijuana. The PKK is considered a terrorist and drug trafficker.  All three individuals have been labeled as traffickers and have sanctions put on against them. Under the sanctions against the three men, U.S. businesses and citizens are not allowed to have any transactions with these men. Treasury official Adam Szubin said, this "highlights the important role that international drug trafficking plays in terrorist financing across the globe." This will hopefully be a warning for those who are involved in activities that threaten the security of the U.S. and our allies.
The international drug trade is a global problem facing our society today. There are many different drug cartels in many countries. In this article, the PKK is an organization that has been designated by Washington as both a terrorist and a drug trafficker. It threatens the national security of the U.S. and other countries that are allies. This article alerts readers of the seriousness of the problem. It hopefully helps readers to understand that this is not something to be taken lightly. No U.S. business or citizen can have any transaction with any of the named people in the article. International drug trade is a huge problem facing our society and hopefully more people will rally against this global crime.
