Blog 5: New human trafficking legislation plan

This article shone a light on sex trafficking that is taking place in Ireland. As it is in many countries, sex trafficking is a problem in Ireland. The victims of this crime come from various countries including: China, Ghana,  Slovakia, and Zimbabwe. The Justice Minister of Northern Ireland, David Ford is trying to help put a stop to sex trafficking in the country.  No one knows the true extent to human trafficking/sex trafficking because it is so secretive.  This illegal trade makes gangs tons of money. Men pay for women to have sex with them.  The gangs make as much money from this crime as they do from drugs, but there is a smaller chance of being caught committing this crime because of limited policing resources.  They are urging the public to get involved in helping stop human trafficking and make noise about the crime.

Human trafficking is a problem in many countries not just Northern Ireland. Women are being sold for sex. This is a crime against humanity. In most countries, little is done about it because it is so secretive.  I am pleased to hear the Justice Minister of Northern Ireland take a stand against this terrible crime that is being committed. Although human trafficking happens all around the globe, most people do not want to believe that it is happening.  Admitting that there is a problem is the first step to change. Without admitting and getting the word out on the crime, nothing can be done to stop it. It is important for the public to know and take a stand against human trafficking. It is a crime against humanity that no one should stand for. David Ford is taking the first step and is committed to trying to reduce and even get rid of this crime. It is important to stay on top of the people who are trafficking and selling other humans.
