Blog #7 Labor issues with Wal-Mart

Is Wal-Mart really this corporate giant that's such a great place to work? Wal-Mart has pretty much all of the sociological problems facing the world all in one corporation. Wal-Mart has had over 200 law suits filled against it in the past 3 years alone! You hear all these great things about Wal-Mart, how they are such a great place to be and representing them is the yellow smiley face, you'd think they were a great place to be, but in reality it is a nightmare to work for the company. The average pay for an hourly employee is only 8.23 an hour, that's rediculous considering that it's the most profitable company in the world. They got busted for not paying their employees overtime pay when they deserved it. I can't believe that they can actually have the nerve to not pay thier employees. They had another law suit filed against them for sexual discrimination. A women that has been working their for over 15 years and never recieved a raise, confronted a manager about a male employee that just started working there, about him getting paid more than her. The manager replied, " God made man first, women will always finish second to men." That's trully unbelievable if your ask me. How could you actually have the ignorance or the nerve to actually say that to someone. With medicare, Wal-Mart doesn't even pay the employees enough money to even get covered for health insurance, which they tell them to seek out health insurance from other providers, like Medicare. If your ask me, Wal-Mart is a coporate giant that treats the people who run it like slaves. They are the richest company in the world and also one of the worst to work for.
