Blog: Millions of Americans at Risk of Flooding as Sea Levels Rise, Delilah Kelly

While many of us are aware of the issue of global warming, we are often uneducated on the different ways global warming has an effect on our every day lives. Through this article the effects of global warming are depicted through the overwhelming discovery of future flooding in America. This flooding issue threatens approximately 4 million citizens covering a surface area larger than the state of Maryland. Scientist predict a 1 meter sea level increase with the continuance of global warming. To gain more information abuot this issue and who it threatens researchers are studying the US mainland that is most likely to experience flooding from the hid tide lines. Scientist also believve that this flooding issue stems from global warming through thermal expansion and the melting of ice glaciers. Thermal expansion is describe as the expansion of water as it warms. Areas that were found at high risk include most at risk Florida, Louisiana, California, New York andNew Jersey covering many coast lines.

This display of the effects of global warming is really eye opening to educating us that global warming is more than just the increase in temperatures and the melting of ice glaciers. This type of environmental destruction can greatly affect the our home lives, daily transportation and communication. Flooding seems to hit home showing just how much our daily lives can be ruined and ways our families could be divided on a more personal level.
