SOUTH SUDAN: High hopes for defeating
"neglected" diseases
High hopes for defeating
"neglected" diseases article was about how the neglected tropical
disease was finally look into taken into consideration. They are now noticing
the disease and how big of a problem the disease is and how much the disease is
on the rise up. The problem with the decades of war was for many decades it was
neglected and over looked. This causes a lot of people to suffer of people from
south Sudan to suffer. Medical directors made points that south Sudan had no
health system for many decades. This caused the disease to be spread along to
other people in that area. In South Sudan and around that area it is very
unsanitary and very easy to catch a disease. They do not have clean water
supply and highly contaminated area also people very little to no education.
They also stated in the article that the reason for all of this because the
lack of government tackling the health issues immediately as they start instead
of waiting until the situation is out of control. This shows that the infected
people go untreated and the infectious becomes deadly and when they are treated
the medicine is so strong and toxic it caused brain damage to the patient.
It’s sad to knowthat people and Sudan suffer under such das conditions. Because of thegovernment not making and acting on decisions quick enough. I believe that the
government could do more to help like raise money even though it could be hard.
They did mention in the article that if they do get the situation under control
and the government slacks again the disease could re occur every 6-10 years.
This is awful to think about I believe that they are giving the people false
hope.
