Microsoft & Raid?? Blog 9

According to an CNNMoney article, Microsoft employees were escorted by united states marshals and raided two web hosting companies. They seized control over the companies servers and hundreds of websites used by the cyber mafia to steal more than 100 million dollars over a five year span. From the stuff they found they seen that in the servers a virus called Zeus was being used to steal bank account information from unknowing suspects. The method that is used is called phishing which uses keylogger on the users computer to track passwords on banking or e-commerce sites.

The part that caught me on this article was the fact that we were talking about cyber crime in class, and it just made me realize that technology has really changed the game when it comes to organized crime across the globe. It makes crime easier to do, virtually anywhere in the world at anytime. I personally know someone who has had their identity stolen, two grand took out his account and death threats sent to his professor because of it.. I've seen what effects it can have on you and its just something I dont need in my life.
