Blog #11: China Business 2012: Clearing the path for cleantech

New Zealand wants support to clean their environment and have the equipment to manage their clantech, so the country wants China to help them with renewable energy.  China give ten trillion yuan (1.6 trillion dollars) so they can develop its cleantech businesses could bring in millions into the New Zealand economy.  The China’s 12th five year plan embraces new targets for renewable energy and the county also includes the alternative energy, biotechnology, new age band information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, highly developed materials, alternative fuel cars and environmentally friendly technologies.  LanzaTech, a New Zealand company, has partnerships with the Chinese steel giants by using its technology that turns the industrial waste gas into biofuels.  The founder of LanzaTech, Dr. Sean Simpson, says the important value to develop the opportunity China presents is we have to change our attitudes to commercializing cleantech.  If this attitude can be reorganize, Dr Simpson says “the window of opportunity is wide open and Kiwi firms can break into the Chinese cleantech market as the technology talent is here.”
This is a great idea for the New Zealand companies to team up with China to improve their green technology.  China has a history of new technology to advance on renewable energy.  It was a good approach on companies to combine their knowledge on the technology.  Dr Sean Simpson explains very well on New Zealand companies.  He wants the country to have better equipment to catch up with other competitors who want the same goal.  The New Zealand companies need to have a vision like the Chinese looks at their technology and how they improve their goals to make a better environment.
