Blog 4: Foster Care Fmilies in Growing Demand

This article is about how foster parents and in great demand in parts Wisconsin.  The article gives a positive spin to the benefits that the foster child really receive from having some there someone to count on, and most importantly someone who loves and cares about them.  The article features testimonials from both foster parents as well as foster children.  Although the article is short, very sweet, and lobbying for foster parents it does really help shed some light on family dynamics as well as struggles in today's world.
As in class readings have shown single parent households, namely headed by women, are on the rise not just in this country but around the world.  With the rising rated of single family households comes the greater likely hood of poverty, and children being taken into foster care.  Even though the article is a little rosy it is drawing much needed attention not just for the need for more foster parent but a need for greater emphasis on diminishing the number of children in need of foster care placement.
The last article I blogged about a a very similar theme in how the need to focus on the source of foster kids is really becoming a priority instead of just throwing more money in to these government systems.  This I really think is getting to the heart of the issue. Its not necessarily that the foster care system needs more participants and or more funding what this system needs is to have more time and effort put into communities to offer support to those struggling families so they have the ability to stay together as a family unit instead of being broken up into the foster care system unnecessarily.
