Blog 5 AT&T Trial text message translation

AT&T is now introducing a service where you can send and receive text messages in a different language. You have a message that goes from Spanish to English or vice versa. The way AT&T I having this service started is by you have to go to their website and register your phone number and then pick what language you would like to receive your text message as. Since this new technology is in the beginning stages currently right now you can only do Spanish and English but they are developing new technology now that can have more languages available soon. This could be a great opportunity for families that speak a different language or communicate globally. AT&T spokesman said that even though there are web services already available like babel fish or a built e-mail service this will be the first service that can automatically translate the text messages for you without having to pay for an extra service or buying a certain type of software. Since this technology is very new the next step AT&T want to work on is having it voice activated. They won’t to roll out this technology in the next year or so where people could voice activate the text message to what language they want it to receive in.
What AT&T is doing is really great. Now families across the world can communicate with each other much faster by just sending a text message. Families would now be able to talk to families members sooner and they wouldn’t have to worry about translation since at&T has already set that up for them automatically. Issue is deftly a global issue but it helps other families stay in contact and with not having to pay for extra service is nice as well. Phone technology has change so much and involving ways we couldn’t even think was possible.
