Blog 6: EU countries Human Rights violations are doubling

In Europe there have been over 37 counts of violations of right to a fair criminals crimes and the numbers continue to rise. These countries are violating article 5 and 6 in the European convention of human rights, which are laws put into place to protect Europeans basics liberty and right to a fair trial, violation of these rights is going against someone's human rights .The problem comes from delaying those who have been convicted of a crime the right to trial, this wait can be up to four years with some countries not even having a maximum wait time. Another reason why the wait time is so long is because some countries  can’t get interpreters to come and conduct the trails making it difficult for the criminal to communicate his or her side of the story. There have been signs of judicial corruption in certain European countries, such as withholding evidence that could potentially prove someones innocent also not providing legal counsel in order for someone to prove their innocence. Each country sets up its own legal system, for each system to pay attention to each the ones that are doing wrong would bring up the bigger issue of that they're paying too much attention to one court but not other courts. Another issue is the economic state of a country this affects the time in which justices is delivered to someone, with all the wait an innocent person does they could possibly die from the things they catch inside the jail cell or come out with things they never had coming in. This probably is becoming a major issue and needs to be confronted.

I believe that anything that involves violating someone's human rights is a major issue especially not giving an individual the right to a fair trial. This rises a new issue that certain individuals could have been put in jail and haven't committed a crime but put in there based on poor judgement by someone else carelessness. Innocent people could be dying because of this actions or suffering from life threatening disease that they shouldn't have in the first place. This also impacts the family of those who are put into jail, the family may have no other means of income or the children may be abandoned and left on the streets. There are laws set around the world to avoid the violations if countries aren't following them then what's the point of having them. Those who of power need to step up and enforce these laws and take control of the country before their whole population winds up in prison. Also there needs to be more reports on this issue so that people around the world are aware of this increasing issue. These individuals need to have a voice and we as outsiders looking in can be that voice.
