Blog 9 A Korean outlook on globalization 10/25/12

The dean of the Kaist College of Business in Seoul, South Korea demonstrated the knowledge and experience of globalization in education to succeed in their future careers, specifically in business. He is known for undergoing the pains and gains of globalization. Dr. Lee discusses how it globalization is enforced. Also, that most classes in school at Seoul are taught in English, and the students must have at least a year of foreign work experience before attending. The majority of the students come from abroad and its classroom dynamics reflect both the school’s international spirit and technological focus.
Abraham Lee, a consultant with the Pacific Strategy Institute, quoted “In a culture that places a high value on education and knowledge, Koreans are already conditioned to believe their personal success is tied to getting specialized training in their professions.” This shows the importance of furthering education and connecting it with culture and globalization. It will lead to better experiences and training to receive better positions in jobs. Expanding one’s education culturally and globally can help create better workers to manage and provide better customer services due to their abilities to understand and communicate with diversity. It is important to have cultural awareness when going into business because it involves working with people from all over the world. Therefore, increasing education helps understand and learn about globalization and how to use it daily. This does not only benefit oneself, but it also benefits those that are receiving help because they are able to relate with the provided and communicate effectively.
