Deterring Terrorism
Today, Friday morning on the day of
Id al-Adha, which is the most important Muslim day of worship, a Taliban suicide
bomber struck and killed dozens of worshipers. The attack happened in northern Afghanistan,
Maimanna, the capital of right after people were exiting a mosque after their
daily worship. “Among the dead were 25 members of the Afghan national security
forces, including the commander of the Afghan National Civil Order Police for
Faryab, the head of the police quick-reaction force and the chiefs of police
for two districts of Maimana, said Naqibullah Faiq, a member of Parliament from
Faryab”. Immediately after this happened
President Hamid Karzai condemned the
attack, ““Those who are taking away the happiness of Muslims during the Id
al-Adha days are the enemies of Islam, and you cannot call them human or
Muslim,”. These actions made provincial
officials very upset. These provincial officials had been crushing Taliban
insurgents wherever and had hoped that their recent attacks were enough to completely
deter them from anymore terrorist actions.
These actions committed by the Taliban
are very atrocious. How many more people will die while we struggle to be
diplomatic and bring “justice” to these terrorist? I believe that some of the
rules should be bent for certain situations such as these. I believe that these individuals and anyone
associated should be hunted down and executed. I believe that terrorist acts
should allow for certain laws to be bypassed.
When the provincial officials had thought that they had done enough to
deter the rest of them (the Taliban) they were wrong and this morning it cost
innocent people who were worshipping their lives. I believe that they should
not have stopped the attack on them. I also believe that there is a valuable lesson
to be learned from these events and the people in charge should learn from
them.
