Blog 10 Childhood abuse linked to adult diseases

Child maltreatment has been a global issue for a while.  This type of abuse can determine a child’s long term consequences in life including its health.  In other words a child’s life condition can affect who they become well into the future.  It has been stated by the World Health Organization that women are more likely than men to be abused as a child.  In order to stop this global concern the education on child maltreatment must be taught.  Child maltreatment can be physical, mental, or sexual abuse.  A lot of abuse goes unreported though or unnoticed.  This maltreatment can become permanent in a child’s head and remain there until he or she is an adult.  Children and well into their adulthood can experience symptoms from abuse such as acts of violence or sadness and a low self-esteem and these types of children tend to not make good choices.  From abuse stress develops and stress can be very unhealthy for the body and lead to poor health issues.  The number one way to stop child maltreatment is to educate families.  Adults that have sleep issues or drug problems have been linked to neglect and abuse.  Always the first step in getting help is recognizing that you have a problem.  So basically child abuse is not just something that can stick with you when you’re a child but the child can experience results that will last a lifetime.
