Blog 10 Chinese cafe owner gets 8 years sentence message over the internet

An owner of an internet café in southern west part of china will begin his 8 year prison term for trying to criticize the communist party in an online message. Cao Habio is accused of what the Chinese called subversive or trying to start a republican party in china. Cao Habo said in his defense that he was just sending messages to his friend of how he wanted to start a party and was making it a big joke. The Chinese officials didn’t think it was a joke and he is now being sentence to eight years. His wife even comment on the situation saying this is a very strict punishment for only being a joke among friends. Cao trial was held in secret so the public couldn’t have access or hear about it. Cao lawyer did issue a statement that said “this case is a travesty of justice. It demonstrates once, again that china shows only disdain for the rule of the law. Now chao is on his way to serve an eight year jail time for just some fun with friends.
This issue is very much so a global issue. It shows us that china is very strict on their rules and will not tolerate any people playing around. Even though this Chinese man was only kidding about the messages he put online especially since they were sent to his friends the Chinese still gave him a harsh punishment. Like they say whatever you put on the internet these days can be prosecuted against so we all should be very careful what we right and do on the internet because he could land in big trouble because of it.
