Blog 12: Civilian vs Solider executions

In Pakistan the use of execution,a form of capital punishment, has been banned since the year 2008. A former member of the military was executed because of a stabbing that killed one of his former commanders in which he was killed. The victim, Muhammad Hussain, was hung on Thursday but before he was sentenced to execution  he pleaded with both the civilian and military court to stay alive and do the time. This proposal was rejected early in the week and Hussain was sent of to the jail in Punjab city in Mianwali. Although the government has vowed to not execute anyone else and honors the right to life they claim that Hussain death was an exception because it was under military jurisdiction. This means that only civilizations are protected by the law that was put into place that over rules executions. Critics say that Pakistan is taking a huge step backwards when their were just making so much progress in honoring the value of a human life. in the future they hope that Pakistan can abolish the death penalty altogether no matter if its a civilian or a soldier.

Pakistan has made major improvements on where they stand on the death penalty but they still have a little ways to go. If they decided to honor the “no executing anyone rule’ than they should honor it no matter the person is. A soldier's life should be no more or no less valuable than a civilian's life. Who’s to say who should get executed and who shouldn't, it is understand that he committed and crime and should have to pay but why should his life be taken away if the rules say it shouldn't. What if civilian committed the same crime they wouldn't have faced the death penalty so what should he? Capital punishment is a form of capital punishment is a violation of someone right to life. If someone kills someone then they too should be killed, its an eye for an eye, but is this truly justice. This may give the family justice and some people do deserve the death penalty but certain cases need more reviewing before the court decides to take someone life away. I am not saying it should be taken out the system every where but have a better reviewing system.
