Government responsibility

Today in morning in Kabul Afghanistan another road side bomb went off, killing 17 people. Most of these individuals were women and children. The bomb went off as they were traveling in a group to a wedding in Western Afghanistan.  This would be the third bomb in less than 10 days that has claimed the lives of innocent people.  The minivan that the group was traveling in hit the improvised explosive device that was buried on a dirt road in the Farah Province.  A spokesperson for Afghanistan and the provincial council chairman has said, “This is the work of the enemies of peace. The Taliban frequently plant bombs in this area as a way to kill government officials or members of the Afghan security forces, but, as was the case on Friday, they bring more casualties to civilians. The Taliban and other anti-government militants are responsible for over 80 percent of civilian deaths in Afghanistan.

How much longer can these atrocities continue before Middle Eastern Countries step up and make the changes necessary to fight? I just don’t understand how terrorism can be responsible for 80 percent of civilian casualties in a country. If this is truly the case, then Afghanistan should step up and take charge of the situation. They should fight and ruthlessly go after these terrorist before they are severely crippled by them as a country. I believe that the survival and future of this country is dependent on that very factor. With this many casualties being killed almost every day, something drastic should be done on how terrorist are dealt with.
