Blog 12 IBM unveils groundbreaking technology to help traffic congestion

IBm has developed new technology that can help reduce traffic jams. They have teamed up with a researching team in Lyon France to help them. Both companies want to develop a system that would let traffic operators try and reduce traffic congestion and make traffic run smoother.  They would use real time data to determine the traffic pattern and help determine what traffic operators would need to do.  IBM has called this system “Decision support system optimizer  this system can detect if they are any traffic incident and suggest the best solution to solve a problem. For example there was a traffic congestion in the city and a ambulance was coming in to the nearest hospital. With this new technology and real time data a traffic operator could detour the lights and create a new pattern of traffic which would make it easier for the ambulance to get to the hospital and everybody else to get where they need to get. IBM has put out a statement that said” the system can estimate drive times and traffic patterns more accurately. A statement by  the tech company in France said “ plotting this analytics technology will help the city anticipate and avoid many traffic jams before they happen and lessen their impact on citizens.

This is a global issue can be a great help to a lot of countries out there. Traffic does cause a lot of congestion and headache. With this new technology headed by IBM it should help easy traffic in areas where they are very congested. They will probably test this out in France first and see how well it does then the new technology will probably go globally.
