Blog #12 Robbery

Robbery is a form of crime that is very common. The national median is only 4%, but just in our area of spring garden it is 5.36%. Smaller crimes like robbery tend to be in areas like this according to statistics. Living in greensboro you have a 1 in 177 chance of being robbed. I feel like that is a pretty high chance. This week I watched a video on a lady who had a camera in her house because she had been robbed before and she calls the cops because she checks the cameras and there is two men in her house robbing it. So through the whole video you can see what is happening while she is on the phone with 911. You can see them walking around taking electronics like the wii and a nice cd player system then you see the cops come in and arrest them. To get in the house the cut through the doggie door. It was broad day light and I just think it is crazy how “easily” people find it to do and how they just do it without remorse. Globally, this is a huge issue and it is happening allover the place. Street crime has decrease but if my chances are 1 in 177 of getting robbed I still feel like that is a high statistic. I think all we can continue to do is increase our amount of security is to be aware of our surroundings, keep a light on when we are not home, and look out for your neighbors.
