Government responsibility Pt.II
Recently in Syria the internet has
been cut off, leaving civilians with no contact to the outside world. There has
also been a civil an ongoing civil war within the country. A lot of civilians
have been caught up in the middle of this bloody entanglement. Now the
civilians that want no part of this civil war are leaving the country to
protect their livelihoods and families. The civilians that are leaving the country
have now been targeted by armed forces (terrorist) because they are leaving.
They are being systematically attacked as they are fleeing. Innocent men,
women, and children are being slaughtered with no remorse by these terrorist.
The United Nations has appealed to the armed forces by asking them to allow the
innocent civilians that want to leave safe passage. Melissa Fleming, a spokeswoman for the United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has recently said, “Not only are they
being caught in the cross-fire, they are actually being targeted, we are
calling on all sides to allow safe passage”.
I believe that those that target
innocent civilians are terrorist, whether they are pro government forces or anti government
forces. What’s happening in Syria is a tragedy.
I recently watched one of the last videos to come out of Syria, due to the
internet being cut off, and it was very graphic. I saw innocent men, women, and
children dying as they were attacked.
The Syrian government should focus its efforts on protecting these
civilians as they leave the country. Any
government that cannot guarantee the safety of its civilians against terrorist
is not a good government and should be replaced immediately with one that can
