In the article it talks about a school girl who is shot for advocating for the right of women and young girls to get an education in Pakistan. The girl was known for her advocacy not only in Pakistan but also globally for her efforts of fighting for women’s rights in Pakistan. She began at the age of 11 writing a blog about her life under the Taliban in the Swat valley. She was recognized for many of her action such as Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2012, she appeared in news reports and was also given the country’s highest civilian honors for her bravery and dedication to the advocacy for the rights of women. The little girl was shot October 9 in northwestern Pakistan. She was shot by Taliban militants and was critically wounded. She was then air lifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Her skull was fractured and they had to reconstructive surgery on her skull and try and restore her hearing. She was still residing in Britain where she can receive care and be protected from any other attacks.

I feel that this is a sad story. For a child to be shot for what she believe in I feel is immoral. Looking at it from either perspective that was child and I feel that no one should have to go through something like that to stand up for what they believe in. I feel that women should have equal access to education and equal rights. I amazed at the little girl’s bravery to stand up for what she believed and felt strongly about. I feel that it is important that we all should take a stand in what we believe. I think something should be done about the shooting but I don’t want to look at it in a ethnocentric way but I feel that it should have not happen to a child let alone an adult.
