In the article by Cullinan, he states how South
Africa hospitals are different based on an audit. This audit took over a year to
complete in which they have four categories;
which are positive and caring attitudes, waiting times, cleanliness, patient
safety, infection control and the availability of medicines and supplies. South Africa hospitals are in low demand of
all four categories which where audit by the Democratic Party. Cullinan states
that caring attitudes were the lowest when it came to auditing their visit in
South Africa,” Clinics scored considerably lower than hospitals on all
measures, but were particularly poor when it came to staff attitude to
patients. Three-quarters of clinic staff failed to show “positive and caring
attitudes” to patients as opposed to almost half of hospital staff.” Overall hospitals and clinics are low in
demand of medicine for their patients. Cullinan also states, “The audit ranked the
quality of facilities in the JT Gaetsewe (Kgalagadi) district around Kuruman
the worst in the country while Tshwane’s facilities came out on top.” Africa is now trying to rebuild their
hospitals and clinic center in which many health physician learn more about
problem solving skills.
After
reading this article I can clearly see that developing countries have many
weaknesses that could harm individuals. Hospitals are supposed to help a person
but since Africa budget is low they could not supply their patients with the
adequate health care that they need. This
shows that other countries are in need of things that the United States could
help and provide. Many individuals are dying in other countries due to the lack
of sources and health physicians. This article not only gives you statistics on
what hospitals provide but also shows how many countries struggle to keep many
humans alive.
