Japan Discovers Rare Earth

A new discover on the seabed of Japan can take the dependence of China being the main supplier of rare earth. “A rich deposit of rare earth that is been said to be at least thirty times more concentrated than China's.” “There was a sample of mud that was taking from 19,000 feet below the waves.” Rare earth is used in Japan for advance technology and around the world. This mineral is important for high manufacturing and used in products such as wind turbines and iPods. There is such a high concentration that is twenty to thirty times higher than that of China. That scientist believes that there is enough material that will be equivalent to two hundred and twenty to two hundred and thirty years. The scientist are going to continue to keep doing research for precious mineral.
This mineral is important because it is used in a lot of the advance technology in the world. There is a high demand for this resources as technology is evolving. I think that having a competition between Japan and China will be good because that means that we might be able to get this resources at a more reasonable price. In the article they talked about they sometimes have problems with Beijing, and having Japan with this mineral too will I think regulate China because we are not solely relying on China. I think that they should continue to do research because there is probably a lot of useful resources out there that have not been discovered.
