Blog #9: Culture Crime of Molesting Women

The article focuses on molestation crimes in Arab countries. Molesting women is unacceptable and not tolerated in America and other countries around the world but in our Arab countries it is a very common crime. The article focuses on the purpose behind molesting women in Arab countries. Molestation crimes in our Arab countries are first a cultural crime before being a sexual one because the molester himself and those who defend him if they are present in the most nude places in France or America will not dare touch a woman or even inquire what a girl is doing there. Evidence from the article shows that Arabic men are more likely to molests women in their own country rather than women in other countries being women rights are protected, and respected. In Arab countries the safest place for a woman to be is home. The article stated, “Molesting women and above it the crime of defending those who molest women are the extremist Islamists’ best way to currently convince women that the only safe place for them is their homes and that whenever a woman leaves her house, no one bears responsibility for what may happen to her.” The article doesn't only speak of the bad guys is Arab countries. There are some men with morals. A woman, by the name of Salama tells her story of her journey to see her husband in Medina. Uthman bin Talha, a pagan, ran into Salama and guided her and her son to their destination. Some Arab men are decent, if it wasn't for Uthman Salama could have faced many problems on her trip.

Culture norms vary from place to place. In Arab countries molestation of women is the individual women fault. An Arab reader commented in a British daily on a news piece about molestating women and children and asked “how can a woman go to this place and not expect anyone to molest her? What was she wearing? What has she done to arouse him?” What makes people think this way? Not only are norms in Arab culture differ from other countries some Arabians don't have morals in life. Women should have the right to walk the streets without being fearful of molestation occuring. Some women are very privledge and granted rights that women of Arab countries dream of everyday. Why aren't Arab women and children protected under the law from molestation? The article doesn't elaborate or speak much of Arab countries laws, but it could be concluded that Arab countries laws don't benefit women much, and if there are laws to proctect certain rights men can override those laws by blaming the victim. This article includes sustainable information, and also gives an underlying explanation of why many Arab women and other women in male dominated countries clothed themselves from head to toe. It's a part of their culture, they may do it for religious purpose, but they also do it to protect themselves from the hot sun and the molesters walking the streets.
