There is a new goal line technology that is going to provide
more accurate knowing when a goal is made. The new system is called Hawk-Eye’s.
“The system uses seven cameras to track the movement of the ball and sends a
signal to match officials’ in seconds when the ball crosses one of the goal
lines.” There was an instance when an official did not see the ball go across
the goal line and that made it a tipping point, so this system will eliminated
this happening again. The Hawk-Eye’s system is supposed to be used for the
first time in the “opening weekend of the 2013/14 Barclays Premier League
season.” There are a lot of countries that are supporting this new system
because it seem that it will help score the games better. “Europe could be the
first of Europe’s major’s leagues to introduce the technology too.”
This technology is interesting to me because I have been to
many soccer games and I have had hard time telling when the ball goes pass the
goal lines. I think that this technology will be a great way to keep better
track of who makes a goal or not because the officials cannot see everything.
This technology would eliminate error because technology this technology will
be able to see or sense what happening. There could be some down falls to this
technology like it might have a glitch during a game and then that will cause
an error to, so I don’t think that they should rely solely on just this new
goal line technology.
