Why China's leaders should worry about climate change

Climate change has created more issues than once previously believed.  Rivers in China have vanished due to the need of water by the large population.  Pollution in rivers that are still present has also been in the news.  Large amounts of ducks and pigs have been found dead along rivers.  Climate change has also caused issues in food production.  With the climate changing and becoming unfavorable for certain plants to grow, the price of these resources could go up.  In 2010, wheat production dropped and the price of wheat doubled in seven months.  Protests are common and they mostly start because of food shortages, water supplies, or pollution.

Climate change is a serious issue.  The temperature has not risen that much but the percentage that it has risen since the industrial revolution is a lot.  More people on earth than ever before has really changed the climate.  With only more people coming, the climate could continue to change.  Changing climate could change food production all over the world leading to shortages on a global scale.  Prices of food could rise too creating a scenario where the poor get no food at all and the wealthy get all they need.  The rivers that are disappearing are another concern.  If the population continues to rise than even rivers that are flowing now may be too depleted in the future.  The population in China is still rising and the availability to water will only become a bigger problem.  The water pollution is another problem completely.  Power plants are a huge reason for the pollution.  Cleaner power plants are needed and with the growing population more power plants will be needed.  New plants need to be cleaner and the older plants will need to be modified.
