After over sixty years it is possible that Klaas Carel
Faber, a former Nazi Internal Intelligence Agent and volunteer for Hitler’s SS,
may possibly be extradited from Germany to the Netherlands to face the crimes
he committed during World War II. He is number
3 on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of most-wanted Nazis and is accused of
22 murders and for aiding the Netherlands’ Nazi occupiers during World War
II. He has been living peacefully in
Germany since 1952, when he fled from the Netherlands, and after many failed
attempts to extradite him, the possibility is more prominent than ever. This event, if followed through with, could
bring a great deal of closure to the victims of the Nazi rule. Although this could seem like a small issue,
seeing the Klaas is now 90 years old and wouldn’t have many years to spend in
prison before dying anyway, but it is incredibly important that justice be
done. This man has eluded what he has
done to so many people for many years and it is not right that he continue to
do so. As most people know, the Nazi’s
were not people to be admired due to their brutal attacks on countries
surrounding Germany and more specifically, the Jews. Although Klass is 90, he needs to see prison
time for his many war crimes. And if this
attempt to extradite him and put him on trial does not work, he may die a happy
man in his bed, something that deprived many others of. Although he has eluded capture so far, one
can only hope that justice will be achieved soon.
