Blog 10:Faith turns Christians into terrorist targets

The world's worst terrorist groups, such as ISIS and Al-Shabaab, aim to create societies governed by strict, distorted versions of Sharia law. This is bad because that means anyone who doesn't subscribe to such extremist views are enemies and in danger -- Christians included. Not only are Christians in danger, but most victims of ISIS are fellow Muslims who refuse to go along with the ISIS worldview and ruthless tactics. There has been more than enough evidence to prove that Christians have been targeted heavily by these terrorist groups. The latest attack occurred on Friday, April 24th,when an Italian prosecutor claimed that a network of Pakistanis associated with al Qaeda talked about attacking the Vatican back in March 2010. U.S. Rep. John Delaney stated that this attack is simply a wake up call to the world that we live in, regarding militant groups across the country, and Christian persecution. Some acts against Christianity has been planned, but not as horrifying as others. For example, there have been several reports claiming that Muslim migrants have threw 12 Christians off the boat in the Mediterranean Sea. Other deadly acts and alleged plots have been blamed on established terror groups, including a French man attacking French churches.
Sid Ahmed Ghlam asked for an ambulance to come to his Paris home on Sunday after (he claimed) he accidentally shot himself in the thigh.However, Ghlams plan went south after authorities ound four Kalashnikov guns, a revolver, ammunition, police armbands and more in his car and his home.

Blog 8:Nigerian refugees: U.N. appeals for $174M for victims of Boko Haram

The United Nations is appealing for $174 million to help Nigerian refugees   Whom fled to nearby nations for protection. Boko Haram has stacked many villages, schools, churches, leaving thousands of people dead. This vicious group also kidnapped many students, including It has also kidnapped students, including more than 200 schoolgirls abducted in April last year. Majority of these girls are still missing today. The militants have attacked viscously, ending 192,000 people seeking shelter in Cameroon, Niger and Chad. According to Liz Ahua, "Displaced people in northeastern Nigeria and across borders are in a very dramatic situation, they fear for their lives and are at this point unable to return to their homes". Different agencies have aided to provide the refugees with clean food, water, shelter, and an education opportunity. "In the refugee camps, thousands of school-age refugee children cannot attend school because of lack of classrooms and teachers," Ahua said.  According to the United Nations, mental health needs play a significant role to help the survivors of physical attacks and those who've witnessed violence. A lot of children have been separated from their families, and that creates even more problems.Ahua also stated,"Adequate funding is crucial to make sure aid agencies can improve the living conditions for refugees in asylum countries and respond to their protection needs". The Islamist group has said it intends  is  impose a stricter form of Sharia law across Nigeria, which is split between a majority Muslim north and a mostly Christian south. This split has given Nigeria an additional displacement of about 1.2 million people.

Blog 6: Cartoonists convicted for insulting Turkey's President

Two cartoonist in Italy were sentenced to o 11 months and 20 days in prison for insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.However, shortly after court, their jail sentence was changed to a fine of 7,000 Turkish lira or about $2,700 american dollars each .Cartoonists Bahadir Baruter and Ozer Aydogan draw for a weekly magazine known as Penguen. A lawsuit was formed against an August cover of Penguen in which a cartoon figure of Erdogan is welcomed to the presidential palace by a public servant. Turkeys public prosecutor lead an investigation against the cartoon, claiming claiming that both the speech bubbles and the "hand drawing" insulted Erdogan. The cartoon apparently had an employee making a hand-gester, suggesting that the Erdogan president is gay, While the court ruled in favor of Erdogan, it is unclear whether the judge sees the speech bubbles or the gay hand gesture as a direct insult. This ruling adds to an increase of criminal cases against people are for defamation against a public officer. In 2014, Turkey was ranked of the world's worst jailers of journalists The Council of Europe's commissioner for human rights, Nils Muižnieks, called this sentence is misguided and also sends a a chilling message to media professionals and all those who want to exercise their right to free expression. Ann Harrison of freedom of press advocacy group PEN International told CNN that their group have  called for decriminalization of defamation, particularly of state officials, as to criminalize criticism of authorities severely stifles reporting and public debate. She also said that  special mandates from the United Nations, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and Organization of American States have called for the abashment of criminal defamation laws.

Blog #5: Yemen: Bombs kill 120 at mosques; ISIS purportedly lays claim

 Two mosques were attacked today, killing a total of 120 people, and injuring more than 300 others.  The attack was orchestrated by Shiite rebels, whom recently taken control over Yemen’s capital Sanaa. Suicide bombings started inside the buildings, followed by a separate attack outside the mosque. The outside explosion was another suicide bombing that occurred in a car. This explosion was intended to kill all of the people who escaped the initial bombing.The two mosques in Sanaa served members of the Zaidi sect of Shiite Islam. T he Shiite rebels are opposed not only by Hadi supporters and Sunni Muslim tribes, but also the Sunni Muslim terror group al Qaeda. This attack came two months after “Houthis”, which is an ongoing  battle between most of Sunnis and the central government, that has been going on for the past decade.The Houthis hold sway in the nation's north but have less influence elsewhere. They took control of military forces stationed near Sanaa, including the air force.The explosions also came a day after a deady fight began between Houthi-controlled forces, and military forces that remain loyal to Hadi.  The Houthi takeover of Sanaa stunned governments of Western nations, including the United States, which had a long relationship with Yemen's leader, working with the regime to target Al Qaeda members. The United States called Al Quada one of the most dangerous terror groups in the world, and with that beung said, the US along with most European and Persian Gulf countries suspended operations in their embassies this year after the Houthis took  assaults at Al Badr mosque and Al Hashoosh mosque in Sanaa.

Blog 4: Suspect in attack on U.S. ambassador studied for possible North Korea ties

A man that was opposed to joint South Korean-U.S. military drills attacked the American ambassador in Seoul, slashing his face and arm as he was about to give a speech Thursday morning.  North Korea quickly called the stabbing a knife attack of justice, and said that the attack was just part of "anti-U.S. sentiment" in South Korea. Police have arrested Kim Ki-Jong for his role in the stabbing. In 2010, Kim received a suspended two-year prison sentence for throwing a piece of concrete at a Japanese ambassador to South Korea. North Korean officials  believers the attack was done for a lot of the USA's warmongers, however, South Korean officials have not taken this attack lightly. South Korean President Park Geun-hye said that the attack wasn't just a physical attack on the U.S. ambassador, it was an attack on the  South Korea-U.S. alliance and it can never be tolerated. Lippert was attacked while attending a event hosted by the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, which is an organization whose main purpose is to unify the Koreans together. Lippert was sent to the hospital in critical condition, before he had to get 2 hours of surgery done, and 80 stitches put into his face.Lippert also suffered 5 gashes in his arm and hand, but these injuries weren't as serious. Videos have also shown that Jong had visited North Korea seven times between 1999 and 2007, which leads to the possibility that North Korea could have been behind the attack as well.

Blog 3: At least 15 dead in attack on high-profile Mogadishu hotel

Shocking events have occurred in Somalia on Friday when the Central Hotel was under attack. The events at the hotel killed 15 people, including a couple members of Parliament and a deputy mayor. The viscous attack started from when a mysterious car packed with fierce explosives blew up not to far from the presidential place. The first explosion triggered a flow of event which first included warfare between the guards and the attackers. Then followed a blast from a suicide bomber which was a female near a mosque. The attackers then shot there way in to the building. Bloodshed was all around the area as explosives went off around the building. The 20 people was also wounded throughout the attack on the hotel. Al-Shabaab is an Islamist terrorist group that is taking responsibility for the attack at the Somalian hotel. The presidential palace tweeted about the situation. "He the president of #Somalia: 'attacking lawmakers and citizens just after Friday prayers: #AlShabaab are un-Islamic and anti-democracy." Since the mid-2000s, they have tried to take control of Somalia. The reasoning behind that is possibly because the country of Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world so the control and power behind the officials aren't very strong. The attackers in the group have aimed at Somalian officials, soldiers and institutions. The hotel attack isn't the only attack that the group has carried out in the recent years. In 2013, Al-Shabaab gunned down shoppers in Nairobi, Kenya. They tortured the shoppers and after four days 67 people were counted to be dead. Al-Shabaab wants its respect and will continue to attack until they get what they want.

Blog#2 Mosque attack kills 19; Pakistan Taliban claim responsibility

The Pakistan Taliban was responsible for an attack on a Shiite Muslim mosque in Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan on Friday. Up to five people were involved with the attack, including a suicide bomber, and a designated shooter inside of the mosque. Another possible suicide bomber was caught, and held in the throat  by civilians in the mosque,A hotel representative reported that nineteen people were killed, and sixty-nine dead in a gunfire assault, and the bomber committed suicide afterwards. Pakistan has seen a lot of violence involving militants among the border of Afghanistan This area marks the territory of a group named .

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as "TTP". This groups main purpose is to enforce the conservative version of Islam in their nation. This group has faught the Pakistani army, and they have also killed many harmless citizens. TTP commander Kalifa Omar Mansoor has been said to be responsible for not only this attack, but also a December massacre at a Peahawar school, that  left 145 dead, The Army Public School and Degree college had many students that were children of army personnel in the Peshawar area .In the attack, gunman burst in and gunned down many students and teachers, including s whole room of students that were taking a test. Spokesman Muhammad Khurasan told CNN that the Pakistan Taliban orchestrated  this attack as revenge for the  government's December 19th execution of a militant who was allied with the group. Mohammed Aqeel was condemned because of his role in the attack of an army headquarters in 2009.

The Middle-Eastern country Jordan has responded to the recent execution of Jordanian pilot Moath Al-Kasasbeh, by the Islamic Group of Iraq and Syria.  Jordan ordered hits on all ISIS training centers, arms and ammunition depots, and named the air mission Moath the Martyr.  These series of events could possible spark a war, because Jordan's armed forces has called this only the beginning. Kasabeths father has been a strong force with the retaliation process. On Wednesday, Jordan executed two prisoners whom may have had ties to the ISIS, but he demanded for more action to occur, because his sons life didn't compare to two criminals. Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh later told CNN that the airstrikes marked the beginning of his nation's retaliation over the pilot's death, but at the end, he plans to destroy ISIS completely. Jordanian king, King Abdullah told the pilots family that he plans to avenge his sons death in a relentless fashion, so they can see more action on the ground rather than the air.
Recent reports have stated that the ISIS have been showing the execution video in a nearby city named Raqqa. The video also includes a young boy saying that he would have burned the pilot too if he had the chance. Even though the video was released on Tuesday, Jordanian authorities think the execution was done at least a month ago.ce. He also said  all Arab tyrants should also be burned. The purpose of this video was to instill fear into all of the people ISIS saw as enemies.
