A terrorism survival course will now be offered in Britain, teaching its students how to deal with potential attacks ranging from suicide bombs to hijackings. The company, 360 Defense Limited, intends to expand to markets in countries all over the world, because they believe that average, everyday people are becoming more aware of their precarious, dangerous position in a world facing terrorism against citizens. The company has run some similar courses in the United States and for India’s many security agencies, but saw the opening to expand their market to those that the company’s direction, Simon Leila, terms “Joe Public,” especially in an India facing escalating violence.
The course costs £ 150 per person, for a day-long class. The company realized it was time to offer courses geared towards the public in the widespread panic that arose after the attack on the Glasgow airport in Britain. Many citizens of the country are now paranoid that they could be next—which is understandable—and 360 Defense Limited is eager to capitalize on a market no longer restricted to security professionals, members of media corporations and government officials. It is believed that Europe will experience an upturn in terrorist attacks that involve everyday citizens. Also, Leila observed that terrorism has evolved greatly in the last half century. While it used to be a means to an end, generally a political one, it is now merely an end to many terrorists. They kill to kill as many people as they can, says Leila, rather than to accomplish any particular goal or agenda. This change results in increasing dangers for “Joe Public,” who will want to know how to deal with those dangers.
