Downloading music is extremely popular now, and downloading bootleg copies of dvd's is growing in popularity as well. I know many people who have movie collections full of bootleg copies that they bought or downloaded the day the move came out in theatres (months before the real dvd was released).
Recently however, two dogs have been tought to sniff out dvd's, something you wouldn't normally imagine having a scent. These two black labs (Lucky and Flow) don't just find dvd's but but find dvd's where they shouldn't be. For example if they were taken onto a cargo ship to do a check around, and all the bags on the ship were labeled wheat or rice (because that was what the ship was transporting...supposedly) the dog would find on this ship crates of dvd's and would sit next to them, and then go find more. But these crates are labeled long grain rice? A policemen might then open up the crate, to find one thousand bootleg copies of "I know who killed me" or something else in theatres at the time. The rice ship was a cover-up for a piracy operation.
These dogs could be used to sniff under locked doors in wherehouses, cargo ships, carrier planes, and so much more. It is hopeful that more dogs will be trained, so a dent can be placed on pirating.
