Children in the Burmese Army

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7069920.stm

The Burmese army is forcibly recruiting children as young as 10 to the army. They are beating them and forcing them to recruit. This isn't the first time they have done this. The army says that the children are all 18, which is the legal recruiting age, on legal documents. They are often sent to combat immediately and forced to do things like burn villages. This is nothing more than human trafficking. The children are forced to consent to the recruitment, but are beaten or threatened with arrest if they don't. The Burmese ruling junta says it has formed a high-level committee to address the issue of child soldiers. Even though many believe that this will do no good. This is a terrible problem. Some of the children are so small they can barely even hold a gun, much less fight in war.
