Japan is now invovled in a second population crisis and unlike other countries, their birth rates have actually fallen quite a bit. Women are being bashed publically for this growing problem (even when it takes two peopoe to make a child). The government is now aiming to boost fertility even after some failure.
It is a growing trend that more women in Japan are now working outside of the home which means that they are working more hours and marrying later on. There must be other factors that are contibuting to this low birth rate. Japnese women are now saying that the reason that they are postpnoning having children is that they have money worries, problems involved in the balence between family and work, and a lack of support from their families.
Women in counties all around the world are experiencing this same decision. Younger couples are bnot as financially secure as older ones are, which is also increasing the age at which women are becomming mothers. Mothers are faced with finding affordable child care and most of their jobs will not simply "sit and wait" for them when they first give birth. Families are now spreading out seperatly now instead of living in multigeneration houses which decreases the support system.
