Temple University President Ann Weaver Hart has signed an education partnership program with six top ranking universities in Taiwan to “help students gain a wider view to compete in the emerging globalized market.” The students will be able to receive a two-year graduate degree at Temple University after they finish three years of undergraduate studies at one of the six universities in Taiwan. In the article it stated that “their degrees will be recognized both by Temple University and by their Taiwanese university.” Also the program works both ways, meaning that students from Temple University can attend any of the six universities in Taiwan. In order to attract Taiwanese students, Temple University is offering summer English courses before they start their education.
I believe this is a wonderful program. It is nice to see that is works both ways. The only thing is that I feel not as many students from the US will attend a university in Taiwan in order to get a degree. I feel there will be more students from Taiwan coming to the US. But that is because everyone wants to come to the US. But I am for anything that could be positive when it comes to education.
