A few weeks ago, I posted about UNICEF partnering with a Football League in Ghana in order to promote education and apparently that partnership has been fruitful -- so far they've raised a significant amount of money for education. Another aspect of their partnership is a two week project that puts young reporters on the sidelines of football games which they later report on. These reporters got their chance with the African Cup of Nations, and this tournament enabled UNICEF to bring their message of education to a large audience. UNICEF sees the importance of incorporating sport/play with education in order to meet their goal of education for all in Ghana. Interestingly enough, these young reporters found that those children they interviewed sold sugar cane in order to stay in school and in some cases trek for hours to go to school.

I was curious to see how the UNICEF partnering with the Confederation of African Football would go, and I am glad that I found this article and that things are going well thus far. Education is hugely important and any program that promotes it as vigorously as UNICEF deserves success like the funds they have raised so far. Hopefully future articles will detail more successes in Ghana and the Education for All platform.
