Paul Slattery is the principal in Australia wants to ugre the Federal Government to continue the funding of primary schools. The goal was to install 3 smartboards into the schools which costed around $29,000 including the maintenance issues that were a problem in the schools. Its upsetting a lot of schools because the government has decided to end the funding to the schools which has put this principal fighting to maintain the funding. A teacher at the St. Joseph's school said that the smartboards have been really useful as teaching tools in the classrooms and the kids have really enjoyed it. This tool is a board that has a touch screen and works with a projector and computer. You can draw on maps and highlight capitals and then print them out for the students which helps in the different learning styles that kids may have.
I think that this is really excited. I know that kids pick up on new technology and are able to work with it really well. It is a great way to get kids involved and excited about learning instead of sitting in a desk all day long. Its great progress for the school system and I'm excited that children all over the world will someday have this technology and I'm sure that the U.S. will be thrilled at having them in the classrooms here as well as in Australia.

This is a great thing and you are totally right about kids and technology, it is what seems to work for them and we are always looking for new ways to educate the youth so hopefully they will be available to all sometime in the near future
