The President on energy and oil.

At this point in time there is no solution to the energy crisis. The only way to resolve our problems with energy is to become more fuel efficient, and “expand domestic production.”
“President Bush is calling on congress to expand oil and natural gas production.”“ President Bush has been working with congress to find a way to increase the oil supply in the United States.” Bush in an effort to increase our oil supply presented congress with a plan to “increase access to offshore explorations in the outer continental shelf.” Congress as of yet has decided against this action, if the United States were to drill in these offshore locations experts believe that these offshore areas could possibly produce 18 billion barrels of oil. That’s almost 10 years of annual production. Drilling in these offshore locations with our newer technology would pose little to no harm to the coral reef and habitats from oil spills. As well as the benefits of lower gas prices this would give thousands of more jobs to American workers, and builds our pipe laying, and construction companies. With these thousands of jobs and the new influx of money to the middle class workers our economy would also improve.
Though the president’s plan sounds good on paper the danger that it could do to these habitats is unknown. With so little untouched habitable land left in the world it’s hard for me to agree that drilling for oil would be the best course of action at this time, but with a little more research on the government’s side it could one day be possible to do so without hurting our natural recourses.

I'm really not sure about off shore drilling, George Bush's saying that there won't be any harm to the coast is like a doctor saying "try this drug it WILL help you but there shouldn't be any side effects, don't worry about it it's all good"
