A suicide car bomb in Iraq has resulted in the most serious attack on U.S. troops this year. Three American soldiers were killed instantly when the car detonated near their vehicle in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. One more American soldier and an interpreter died later from injuries. Currently, there are approximately 147,000 troops based in Iraq. Since 2003, more than 4,200 troops have been killed in Iraq.
Only four American soldiers were killed in hostility in January of 2009, the lowest monthly toll since March 2003. But the violence doesn’t seem to be slowing down; it is only February 11 and already five Americans have been killed.
Honestly, the war on terrorism will never be over and crimes such as suicide bombers will always happen. The world is full of crime and violence, especially in times of war. Many of these suicide bombers believe they will become martyrs after their death because of their “commitment” to their country. However, many Iraqi civilians are actually the victims of these crimes. For example, on July 28, 2004, a suicide car bomb exploded and killed 68 Iraqi citizens outside of a police recruiting centre in central Baquba. This is only one example of a suicide bombing on one day. In other violence on that day, 35 insurgents and seven Iraqi soldiers were killed in early morning clashes. Although the violence has subsided since the 2004 attacks, it does not seem to be coming to an end any time soon. The suicide bombings have killed thousands and injured many more. But the real question is will it ever really end? Can we really end this war on terrorism?

This is so sad!! I agree with you and I do not think terrorism and such will ever end. All of these stories on the news just makes me proud to be an American! I am proud of our country for sticking up for our beliefs.
