A couple from London, England decided to end their lives together on February 27th. They were both elderly and had terminal cancer. Penny Duff had a rare cancer called GIST and Peter Duff had colon cancer that was so bad that it spread to his liver. They died with assisted suicide and their families said the doctors and nurses were real and that the couple died very peacefully. The couple had to go to Switzerland to get the doctor-assisted suicide because it is not legal in England. People are speaking out to Parliament with hopes of getting doctor-assisted suicide legal. Not everyone was happy with the couple choosing to get doctor-assisted suicide, Phyllis Bowman, who is against euthanasia said, that their death was sad and he would’ve rather them go to a hospice where they would’ve been taken cared of and died naturally. Peter was 80 and his wife, Penny was 70. Penny had a rare cancer that spread throughout her digestive system.
I think this is an important article because I think this type of death was a beautiful thing. Penny and Peter decided to end their lives together due to their terminal cancer was a good thing. Nobody wants to go through tremendous amounts of pain all day every day until the day you die. They were 80 and 70 years old, that should be a time for them to relax but they couldn’t because they were very sick and I think it was a smart idea that they decided to not suffer anymore. I also think it was beautiful that they were able to pass away together at the same time because most couples don’t get to do that. Doctor-assisted suicide with terminally ill people should be legal everywhere, especially in the U.S because I know when I’m retired I don’t want to suffer 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, I would like to die with dignity.

This has become a bigger issue now a days. I too believe that if people are in that bad of a situation, they should be allowed to do an assisted suicide. If they are terminal and are living miserably, then why should they have to live? Being put in hospice care does not mean your life will be any easier. Some people are just better off, and it should be legal.
Isn't it nice that a “wealthy couple” had various options and that Prince Charles sent them a note? That’s SO BIG of the Prince!
Very glad that Switzerland will always be there for the wealthy. That’s a comfort.
Of course, options such as the ones the "wealthy couple" had are not available to or obtainable by the middle and lower classes, but at least there will always be liquor, illegal drugs, the streets, and overcrowded and dirty county hospitals for them.
The world has been taken over by Ebenezer Scrooges, and they are now lauded and extolled as "celebrities" and gods as the outcome of a plague of human, monstrous pig for which, if there ever was a cure against this, we've certainly lost it now.
I agree with you about Euthanasia entirely, people's lives can only belong to themselves and they must be given the right to end it in the way they choose, free from any state or religious control.
