Biofuels speed up global warming..

New studies are showing that the media driven craze of bio fuels could speed up global warming as opposed to its original purpose. Over the last few years the rush to stem the enormous rates we burn fossil fuels, people have invested in bio fuels, the over glorified under researched alternative. Bio fuels include use of corn, soybeans and sugar cane to produce ethanol to use in place of fossil fuels or in conjunction with them. One major problem with this is that the most commonly used bio fuel, corn and soybeans, take 300-1,500 years to show any real benefit. Another huge problem is that in order to cash in on this craze, farmers need to find the land on which to grow their crops. And in the last few years 80% of that land has come via deforestation which is not only tragic just at face value but also contributes further to the global warming issue. Lastly this causes food prices to go up because the bio fuel crops are also essential to a huge majority of everything we consumers need every day.

It seems to me that people got caught up in the frenzy of this call to arms against global warming with out proper research into how they should actually go about this. The government is also responsible for a huge percent of the blame for encouraging farmers to grow bio fuel crops and sell them for that purpose. Blindly making policy for the approval of constituents is not only immoral it's stupid and extremely dangerous on a global scale. That's not to say the public for accepting these policies with out question aren't to blame. Being swept up yet again in a media-slash-hippy fever has thrown more fuel on the fire, so to speak.
