At least 4 die as mortar rounds hit Baghdad suburb

In Baghdad, Mortar rounds killed at least four people Friday. Its the latest sign of violence returning to areas that the United States and Iraqi forces have considered largely stable. The attack happened in the Jisr Diyala district. It reinforced worries that security forces may need to shift attention back to areas that have been quiet in recent months. It also raised concerns about Iraq's ability to maintain security in Baghdad. What will happen after the U.S, military leaves? If it is unstable now then what will happen when the primary support withdraws? The U.S. military withdraws from major cities by the end of June. Police and hospital officials said the mortar attack in Jisr Diyala killed at least four people and wounded about 10 others. The district in southeastern Baghdad is primarily Shiite, but is surrounded by heavily Sunni areas. Mohammed Khazim was watering his garden when the attack occurred. He stated, "We are surprised with this attack because things have been calm in our neighborhood recently," "I do not understand why they would attack a civilian area that has no military posts at all."

That last quote was placed in my summary of the article because it directly signifies exactly what I think and feel. These attacks are pointless to me. But this kind of attack is why this article is placed under the category of Terrorism. This attack was done just to create fear and disruption. Nothing was gained or accomplished other than to create terror in the lives of others. Attacks like this are what make this war so hard to fight. The people know it is pointless and not directed towards anyone. Well if it is not directed towards anyone, how to you intend to stop it?
