A girl in the country of Japan named, Noriko Calderon was forced to choose between her country and her parents. Her parents moved to Japan illegally a few years back from the Philippines. It was found that they were there illegally working, and that they came to Japan with fake passports. They were living there as if Japan was their home country. But, for Noriko it was her home country. She was brought up Japanesse, she learned the language but, yet never learn her parents native language and she also attend the school just like every child in Japan did. In 2006 her mother was arrested and they were told that they had to be deported to their homeland. Since their daughter was born and raised there they decided to fight the charges all the way to the High Court but it didn't matter. They were still told that they had to be deported from Japan. The parents wanted Noriko to stay in Japan with her aunt because there are more opportunities for her there unlike the Philippines where there is mostly farm land. She had to say good bye to her parents in the airport not knowing if she was going to see them in a year like they are trying. But, more than likely they will not be able to see each other until Noriko is eighteen years old.
I think that this is really sad. It's such a violation of human rights. Sure, they went to Japan as migrants but the fact is they have lived there long enough to get good jobs, and to raise a child there. They should be able to stay, especially for their daughters sake. The fact that they were found recently should not over way the fact that no one noticed or cared to notice before. Why now? Why would you want to make a child choose where she should stay or go, and why make her live with out her parents in here life for the next few years to come?

I also think that this is a sad story. It seems as though Nokio's parents have sacrificed a lot to get where they are now, and the main reason why they illegally moved to japan was to provide a better life for their family, especially their daughter Noriko. It is unfair that Noriko has to choose between her country and her parents, both which are very important to her. I also believe that the family should be able to stay in Japan there are better opportunities and room for advancement here, and if they move back to the Philippines they will be forced to work a low paying salary job that will not be enough to support their family.
Its sad that people have to migrate just to get better work. Families all over the world are being broken up and I think that as Americans we have seen it a lot recently. I think that this is definitely a special circumstance, but how does a government decide which illegal immigrant can stay, and which can't? The fact is, as sad as it is, that they came there illegally, and because of that need to go back to their home country.
