Women are slowly returning to the light as the Taliban are leaving the country of Pakistan. When they took it over, they forced women to wear head garments so that their faces and upper bodies were completely shielded from view. Some even quoted that it made the country very "clumsy" due to all the women walking into light posts and other fixed normal everyday objects. Many women eventually just bowed down to remain inside during the Taliban's rule, not going outside at all. But now that they can venture safely and ungarmented outside, the country has its teachers, maids, and nurses back in employment. The garments, called burqas, left with the Taliban when they left the country, women were more than happy to remove them. Cosmetics, dresses, and shoes had all been banned while the Taliban ruled.
Its as if the entire intention behind it was to keep women under control, out of the public eye, at home where they belong. How are women supposed to support their children if they can't work due to the burqa they have to wear? How is she going to have a good marriage when her husband is working twice as hard now, he's never home? These are the sorts of questions I ask myself when reading articles like this. I find them disturbing because their entire life is under somebody else's hand. It can be squeezed and manipulated in any way. So you know that their family structure and success level is drastically affected by situations like women being forced to cover themselves up like that.

That would really suck if we had to wear head dresses just because someone told us to ... It makes me realize how lucky we are to live in such a free country to were we dont even have to worry about that.
