The article was about how Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez was in Moscow, Russica to negotiate oil contracts with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. They were supposed to be talking about trade of oil and gas products, but the article makes it seem like it was more of a military contract meeting. It basically talked about how Venezuela appreciates being an ally with Russia. Under the contracts, Russia is supplying them with helicopters, fighter jets and assault rifles and also is building two plants in Venezuela to build these at. It was the first meeting between the groups since October 2008.
My reaction to this article was I don't see how it relates to oil and gas contracts at all, it seems like a more militaristic contract. This is an example of trade because the 2 countries are trading and exchanging assets to each other and are allies.

It's true this is an example of trade, but it's interesting though because Venezuela and Russia snuck in all these military agreements around oil negotiations. Both oil supply and large militaristic favors will make Venezuela a staunch supporter of any endeavors that Russia would like to undertake.
