In Moscow, Clinton Urges Russia to Open Its Political System
Hilary Clinton recently visited Russia where she praised some aspects of the government and criticized others. She praised the fact that there were many mixed faith marriages that were supported by the government (between Muslims and other faiths) in Tartarstan where Muslims, Orthodox Jews and Roman Catholic Christians live together in harmony without violent separation and wars and that they had put up a statue of Walt Whitman who was an outspoken gay activist even though the city’s mayor was critical of gay couples and had banned gay pride parades. There were criticisms of the government but it was done with tact and after asked her favorite book which lead to the discussion of the government. Mrs. Clinton left and immediately was on the phone with Afghanistan trying to build a relationship with their government.
I really feel like this is showing that a woman can have power and things can go well. Mrs. Clinton is really showing that she can do things without her husband and that she can be respected in her own right. With the hostage situation this summer, everyone kind of said she couldn’t do anything on her own and she proved them so wrong! She showed she was a true diplomat because she could’ve said something that would’ve made a tense situation worse but she chose to be wise with her words and make both sides feel like she listened to them. I really expect to see good things come out of this for her and when they do, it will prove that women can do “male” jobs and still have wonderful outcomes.

I am proud of clinton. Even though we Americans have different views than most countries, it is totally not fair to not be able to marry the person you wnt to.
