Cybercrime is Rampant Around The World

This current events article discusses the problem with cyber crime around the world. Attacks on the Internet have grown into a widespread problem. Seven thousand adults in fourteen nations participated in a survey, the Norton Cybercrime Report: The Human Impact. It was reported that over 65% of the participating surveyors have been victim of the cyber crime. The attacks included viruses, scams, phishing, social network hackers, credit card fraud, and sexual predation, the most common being viruses and malware. China was the worlds most victimized place with 83% of internet users being attacked. The article says that being aware of this crime is a good way of practicing good self-defense mechanisms. The people are taking efforts to let users know about what is going on and what should and should not be done on the internet in order to try and prevent from being victimized. I personally enjoyed this article. It was easy to relate to because I, too, have been victimized of cyber crime this past summer. I think it is unbelievably ridicules for someone (the criminals) to have that much time on their hands and that big of a cruel heart to do something so ignorant. As far as critiquing the article, it does have some useful information on what is going on, however I believe that the article needs to list ways to prevent this from happening. It does tell about not doing anything illegal on the internet, such as stealing CD's or DVD's, and not giving your password out to other people, but there are so many other ways that you could be be victimized that I believe the article should discuss.

I think people that do these types of things are stupid and desperate for attention. Personally i think the government should take action on these types of situations. With technology these days they are able to trace this scam back to the computer that it originated from and this could help eliminate alot of this problems and crimes.

I think that these acts are disgusting. I think that the government and the entire country should be making efforts to try and stop this from happening every again. I know that it would be very hard for all of the cyber crimes to be completely stopped, but there should be many more warnings then there are to try and prevent this from happening.
