Downtown shooter ingures Four

This article is about a shooting outside the N Club in Greensboro. Quinton Dewayne Campbell shot four people and was then shot by a bike-patrol officer when he refused to drop the gun. It all began when there was an altercation inside the club that spilled out into the streets. The two feuding groups separated outside, but Campbell fired the shots from a distance. Two victims were taken to the hospital by the paramedics, while the other two drove themselves. They were treated and released, while Campbell remained in the hospital for the night. He faces four courts of attempted first-degree murder an one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. According to records, he is already on probation after 2009 convictions of possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Police says that the staff at the N Club told them that they had checked patrons for weapons that evening but found none. Police believe that the gun was inside the club. Club owner, Rocco Scarfone, says that he heard from witnesses that the shooter was in his car right before the shooting and that they cannot control what happens a block away. If the gun was inside the club, they could face penalties. I believe that the gun was inside the club. The owner wouldn't want to admit that they either, didn't check, or didn't check well enough for weapons. I know from my experience, for every club I've ever been to, they do not check. The argument probably started over something ridiculous and after they left, Campbell would let it go. The article was a good article because it told about what happened, how it led to the shooting, background information on Campbell, and gave details about the victims. This can be a social problem because more and more people are going to clubs. If little arguments continue to break out into a shooting then this will cause a problem. Nightclubs are a lot of fun, but can be dangerous. It seems like it is a growing issue that guns are being the ation take for "settling" a dispute. Anywhere, not just nightclubs, where there are a lot of people, problems can, and often do, occur.

It's quite interesting that this happened because I remember talking about stereoptyping and I mentioned to the class that I don't go to the N club because it always looks like trouble when people are leaving the club and I have personally seen more than one or two fights. When we spoke about this in class and how race plays a part in the way we think I'm sure people may come to the conclusion that I was speaking about the African-American population that is leaving the club. It was not that I was trying to racially profile those people it was their actions and the way those individuals have had to be escorted by the police or ushered away from fights. The police don't patron in front of the club for no reason.

I think that this is such an interesting article because it is something that happened to close to home for us. This is not an issue that happened millions of miles across the globe, but rather just downtown Greensboro. I think this makes me more aware of my surroundings and the fact the crime is happening everywhere.
