Italy seizes more than a ton of cocaine

The article is about how Italy seized more than a ton of cocaine in a shipment from Brazil. Police in Italy seized the cocaine that was worth over $340 million. It was from a shipping container carrying farm equipment from Brazil. Police were tipped off about the 2,200 pound load by officials from Britain's Serious Organized Crime Agency. The country's national police said that it was the largest drug bust in Italy in fifteen years. the commander in charge of the investigations, Salvatore Cagnazzo, said that the cocaine had been hidden in the cavity of the tractor that was stored in the containers. The bust is the second massive cocaine bust in my months. In October, eight New Jersey longshoremen were caught helping Panamanian drug dealers smuggle more than a ton of cocaine in the United States. This article is about a drug bust that happened in Italy. The article itself is very detailed. the only thng that I think it should include is the rate of drug busts in general. It says that is the second biggest cocaine bust in the past month, but what are the average rates? This is a major social problem because drug smuggling happens more often than we are aware. Wilmington is a big "drug smuggling port" in North Carolina. People from other countires are getting rich from producing then selling cocaine and other drugs to other countries. Another big import of drugs comes from Mexico. Also in this article, it talkes about how two New Jersey longshoremen helped one import come into the country. This surprises me, although it probably shouldn't.

I think its great that they did manage to catch the cocaine that was going into Italy. I find it interesting that international drug trade is becoming more of a problem but yet no one talks about it other than marijuana. Cocaine, crack and other hard drugs have harsher outcomes and yet we still don't talk about this issue.

The world is just too busy worrying about whether marijuana should be legalized. Governments and law enforcement need to remember that there are other drugs out there that definetly do not need to be legalized.
