Joseph Kony

Joseph Kony is well known in the African Union, United Nations and State Security meetings; just as well as Al Queda is known in the U.S Kony evokes anger, anxiety and terror. For Global security and human rights fraternity, Kony is defined as a terrorist. Even after all the pain and damage Kony remains. Why is that? There are many explanations as to why Kony survives and continues to terrorize citizens....
Although Kony may be a villain in the eyes of the international community, there is no doubt that his agents have committed atrocities in the name of fighting the Ugandan government. With all the ideas on why Kony sill survives none of them realistically resolve the conflict. Can one even guarantee that with Kony killed or imprisoned there won't be a new rebel leader if the Ugandan State continues to behave belligerently in the north? The international community should also commit adequate resources to capturing and trying Kony or to a viable resolution rather than using the UN to fix all the problems.
I am confused by the fact that it has been years and Joseph Kony has yet to be captured. After reading this article the ending statement "Can one even guarantee that with Kony killed or imprisoned there won't be a new rebel leader if the Ugandan State continues to behave belligerently in the north," definitely made me think, to say the least. If we did imprison Kony, would there be a backup, and would that backup be worse and more severe than Kony? I think the government needs to come from a different angle. Instead of just going after Kony, go after the men working for him. Imprison them, leave him alone, maybe capture his family, it sounds bad, but the way to get to him isn't to just make laws, or go directly after him, obviously that's not working. You need to get through to him in a different way. I do believe he should be caught, and measures should be taken to educate people on a different lifestyle, so there aren't copy cats of Kony.
